About Us
Greco Chess Academy
Where Classic Chess Meets Modern Learning.
At Greco Chess Academy, we believe that chess is more than a game — it’s a powerful tool for building focus, patience, confidence, and lifelong thinking skills. Whether
you’re 6 or 60, a curious beginner or a tournament hopeful, we create a learning journey that’s just right for you.
Founded by FIDE Master Harshal Shahi, a multiple-time national and international chess champion and recipient of the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement,
Greco Chess Academy is built on years of competitive experience and a deep love for teaching.

Why “Greco”?
Our name pays tribute to Gioachino Greco, one of the earliest recorded chess masters in history. Just as Greco laid the foundations for modern chess centuries ago, we aim
to build a rock-solid foundation in every student we teach — rooted in classical knowledge but adapted for today’s fast-moving world.
Our Mission
To make high-quality chess education accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for learners of all ages and abilities.
We proudly teach:
- Children and teenagers looking to build skill and discipline
- Adults rediscovering the joy of chess
- Aspiring tournament players preparing for serious competition
- Visually impaired students — using adaptive methods and patience
- Children from underserved communities — because talent deserves a chance
One of our visually impaired students even represented India at the Asian Para Games, and many others continue to thrive under our mentorship.

Our Philosophy
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all training.
Some students come to us to win medals. Others just want to have fun and learn. Whatever your reason, we’ll meet you where you are — and help you get where you want to
go.
At Greco, you don’t need to be a prodigy — just curious.
